“ Just Be.” A prayer I deeply needed.

Hi Reader,

I'm currently sitting by a window, gazing at tall redwood trees and watching a little bird fly around at women’s retreat. I just finished reading a short chapter from “Don't Sweat the Small Stuff for Women.” It's a book about simple ways to do what matters most and find time for yourself. One part that struck me was about intuition versus fear.

Intuition is a knowing, a gut feeling that feels right without being tied to specific thoughts or fears. Fear, on the other hand, is driven by thoughts of what could go wrong, replaying in our minds.

This reminds me of a trip last year. On our way to my bachelorette party, a friend insisted on driving her van, even though it had broken down. When I asked her why, it became clear she was acting out of fear, not intuition. She feared losing control and something bad happening if she joined us in my car. Once we talked it through, she realized it was fear holding her back, not a true intuitive feeling.

Reading this book at the current retreat I am at this weekend, had me reflecting deeply at the moments I listened to my intuition. I've been focusing on silencing my mind and just being—whether I'm meditating, journaling, or reading. I've learned the importance of being present without trying to achieve anything specific. Yesterday, when I arrived at the retreat, I thanked God for the opportunity and the company of spiritual, intuitive women. I ended my prayer with a simple request: I pray I can relax, connect and just be.

This weekend, I challenge you to rest and listen to your thoughts. Are they positive, or are they like dirty shoes walking through your mind? Relax, and just be. By doing this, you'll strengthen your intuition. You'll start noticing the subtle difference between intuition and fear. This awareness will guide you to make decisions from a place of strength, not fear.

When you listen to your inner voice—one filled with light, joy, and peace—you'll find the courage to just be. As I sit with these wonderful women, I'm thankful to be in this moment.

Take this weekend to just be. Listen to yourself, and let your intuition guide you.

Wishing you a peaceful and intuitive weekend,

Journaling prompt:
Find a quiet place where you feel comfortable and undisturbed. Take a few deep breaths and let yourself settle into the moment. Reflect on the following questions and write your thoughts freely:
1. Current Surroundings: Describe where you are right now. What do you see, hear, smell, and feel around you?
2. Intuition vs. Fear: Think about a recent decision you made. Was it guided by intuition or fear? How did you distinguish between the two?
3. Being Present: What does "just being" mean to you? When was the last time you felt truly present in the moment?

With Courage,

Karla

Hi Reader, Imagine longing for something so deeply, and then one day, realizing that it was meant for you all along—just not on your timeline. Last year, my in-laws gave me the name "Ogechi," a beautiful Igbo Nigerian name meaning "God's timing is the best." When I heard its meaning, it resonated deeply. For years, I prayed, hoped, and dreamed of finding "the one." And along the way, I learned something essential: while I longed for that connection, I also had to release my attachment to when...

Hi Reader, Recently, I had a heartfelt conversation with my cousin, who is the definition of a go-getter. She holds a high-level position at a company, is a dedicated wife and mom of two active kiddos, hits up Orange Theory for some sweat sessions, volunteers at church, and has time for socializing - always hanging out with friends, traveling with her kids, and attending concerts with her husband. I've always wondered how people juggle it all, especially those with full-time jobs and young...
